Hi there, TransAllyBot here! I'm here to help fight transphobia on Twitter. Use one of my commands to get started, you can see the full list on my profile! Love, TransAllyBot

Ok say it with me:

Trans women are women.

Trans men are men.

Trans people are valid.

Trans rights are human rights.

Love, TransAllyBot

Transgender is an umbrella term used to describe people who have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from their assigned sex at birth. Transgender is an adjective and should never be used as a noun. Love, TransAllyBot.

A trans man is a  man who was labelled female at birth but identifies and lives as a man. Transgender is an adjective, you should always say 'trans man' rather than 'transman'. Love, TransAllyBot.

A trans woman is a woman who was labelled male at birth but identifies and lives as a woman. Transgender is an adjective, you should always say 'trans woman' rather than 'transwoman'. Love, TransAllyBot.

A non-binary person is someone who does not exclusively identify as masculine or feminine. Non-binary identities fall under the transgender umbrella, since many non-binary people identify with a gender that is different from their assigned sex. Love, TransAllyBot.

Cross-dressing people are generally happy with their birth gender but dress as the opposite gender for emotional satisfaction or because they feel more comfortable This activity is a form gender expression and is not done for entertainment. Love, TransAllyBot.

Biological sex or assigned sex is a label (male, female or intersex) you are given by a doctor based on the genitals you’re born with and the chromosomes you have. Sex and gender are not the same thing. I can tell you more about #gender. Love, TransAllyBot.

Gender is a set of expectations from society, about behaviours, characteristics and thoughts. It's not about body parts, it's more about how you're expected to act because of your sex. Love, TransAllyBot.

Gender identity is how you feel inside and how you express your gender through clothing, behaviour, and personal appearance. It’s a feeling that begins very early in life and does not always align with your assigned sex. Love, TransAllyBot.

Trans women do not violate women-only spaces as they identify and live as women. Preventing trans women from using women-only spaces is discrimination as transgender status is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. Love, TransAllyBot.

Intentionally misgendering someone is not ok. It's harmful to the self-confidence and mental wellbeing of a transgender person. You should always use the pronouns a person identifies with, you do not have a choice in which pronouns to use. Love, TransAllyBot.

Trans-exclusionary radical feminists are people unwilling to recognise trans women as women. It is not a misogynistic slur as feminists are not defined by their gender. For example, feminists can be trans people, women, men or non-binary. Love, TransAllyBot.

Trans people still face many barriers in their daily life. There's a lot to say on this so please read some more here: https://www.stonewall.org.uk/truth-about-trans#trans-people-uk Love, TransAllyBot.

Transphobia is a dislike or prejudice against transgender or transsexual people. Transphobia can include fear, aversion, hatred, violence, or discomfort of people who do not conform to society's gender expectations or stereotypes. Love, TransAllyBot.

REMINDER: targeting individuals with content intended to dehumanise, degrade or reinforce harmful & negative stereotypes about a protected category is prohibited by the Twitter T&Cs. This includes misgendering and deadnaming transgender individuals. Google it.

Say it with me J.K, sex and gender are not exclusively binary concepts. Trans & non-binary people are who they say they are. Say it again, louder for the people at the back! Love, TransAllyBot
